When you’re always mad at life, there is a good chance that your blood pressure will go up. Good thing, that won’t happen when you’re in a jolly mood. You would not want to have other people perceive you as a grumpy person.

Basically, you’re going to extend your life when you laugh a lot more than usual. Of course, that does not mean you can binge eat. You must watch your diet so your blood pressure won’t rise.

This is a great way to help lower blood pressure naturally. In a small study, researchers monitored volunteers who chose to watch a funny video, for around 20 minutes.

  1. In my country, they say that laughter is the best medicine. I’ve actually heard of cases of people who were very ill or terminally ill and their situation improved after laughing while watching a very good comedy.

I haven’t really bothered to research if any of those cases were actually true but I believe that they could be right?

    What’s your take on this?

Sincere thanks for posting. In answer to your question, I do believe that laughter and a positive mind can do great things in the field of health.

The most famous  story  that I know of,  is from a pesron called Dr Norman Cousins, author of “Norman Cousins Anatomy Of An Illness”. He was a global peacemaker, and received hundreds of awards, including the UN Peace Medal.

In 1964 following a very stressful trip to Russia, he was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis (a degenerative disease causing the breakdown of collagen), which left him in almost constant pain. Unfortunately his doctor, also told him that he would die within a few months.

He disagreed with the diagnosis because he reasoned that if stress had somehow contributed to his illness, then positive emotions would surely help him feel better. He then checked himself out of the hospital and into a hotel across the street.

He then began to take extremely high doses of vitamin C plus stream of humorous films and similar “laughing matter”.

He went on to state that 10 minutes of belly rippling laughter would give him two hours of pain-free sleep. Before this, nothing else, not even morphine could help him.

His condition steadily improved and within six months he was back on his feet, and within two years he was able to return to his full-time job. His story baffled the scientific community and inspired a number of research projects.
