Important Life Lessons Learned – What Are Yours….

What are the important life lessons you have learned to date?  The biggest one I have learned in life is having the correct attitude in dealing with the inevitable setbacks that we will all encounter in life.  It will help so much towards having a happy and successful life.

I only learned this recently after worrying too much about what people think and also being scared of making mistakes. Basically, it was all down to low self-esteem.

I asked this question to get life lessons from other folks and got the following answers. I would really love to hear yours in the comments below:

You are the one responsible for all that happens to you.  You are the one who is the owner of your thoughts, your feelings, your actions, you can control only yourself and no-one else.

It is a curse to be a prisoner to your own limited perceptions, to constantly think and worry and to blame others for what you have allowed.

Just accept yourself, your mistakes, your past, the way things are, and strive for what you will but take responsibility for all that happens to you despite some things being unavoidable you do choose how you react, be kind to people; that is the proper way to treat people, as you never know fully another has been through. Perhaps just like you, they have endured too much for too long.

The thing I have learned is that people will keep discouraging you for whatever you do but we shouldn’t care about it. Otherwise, we won’t be able to face bad times.

I agree with very much. It makes you avoid self-pity.

Do not take life too seriously. Or it will drag you down

Life can be compromised very easily.

This is another one I have learned a lot of times in my life.  Never judge anyone~ You never know what they’re dealing with.

Terrible to quote when it should be my lesson in particular, but of this, I’m quite a fan;

“In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life. It goes on.” – Robert Frost

That life is not fair…

————————-

That your thoughts, beliefs, and expectations create your reality.

The biggest thing I’ve learned in life to date: –  People will never be fully happy. There’s always going to be something to moan about.

Compassion. Or whatever you call don’t piss people around you

So what lessons have you learned? I love to know below. We sincerely hope that the above information has been of help.

  1. Life is filled with so many lessons, and it’s a lifelong learning experience, so it’s hard to pick out any one lesson as the biggest. But one important lesson is not to listen to people who put you down.

Very often, verbal abuse is nothing more than the abuser projecting their own faults onto other people.

  2. My biggest life lesson so far is to work as wisely and make sure you give your best. Every time because you can only succeed that way. And when your work doesn’t look as well your neighbor is doing, because you do not face the same challenges or have the same advantages.

It keeps me from feeling discouraged or too proud. That is how you can realize great things and keep your humility.

    Thanks

  3. I have learned a lot of things reading this post as well. But for me the biggest lesson in have learned so far and its been a moving force for me in do many aspect of my life is that  “A positive towards anything you want to do has taken you half way to achieving that thing”. This have been a working for me and I know it will work for other people.

Thank you for taking the time to post. I always appreciate it.

I have learned through too many painful lessons that you can change your life if you change your attitude. This wonderful quote below sums this up, better than I could ever do it.

      ——————————————
Attitude is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than what people do or say. It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill. ………Charles R. Swindoll

  4. Hi Logfires,

I agree that attitude is a huge factor in how happy and successful you are. Your attitude impacts on how productive you are, how you interact with people and what you do to make yourself happy. If you struggle with having a positive attitude, it can be really hard to snap out of it and change yourself for the better.

But, I think that the first step is, to be honest with yourself to asses your current attitude to see how you can improve it.

    • Tom

I totally agree with you – ” I think that the first step is, to be honest with yourself to assess your current attitude to see how you can improve it. ”  From experience, I find that this is so hard, but it is necessary.

I am not sure of the author but I think this is a good summary of insanity – ” “They say the definition of insanity is repeating the same action and expecting a different result. “

  5. I love your site, right my alley. One of my faves is one you have here; Never judge anyone~ You never know what they’re dealing with.

“We often miss opportunity because it’s dressed in overalls and looks like work”

I am in recovery, (2 1/2 yrs.) it really changes your perception…of everything.

    Take care,

    Ellie,

    ps. I’ll be back lol

Thank you so much for your kind comment. It makes all the hard work worthwhile. I started the site because if you listen to the news, you’d think there was not much good around. There is, and I try to impart this through inspirational stories and inspirational video quotes.

Good luck with your journey. I entirely agree – ” it really changes your perception…of everything.” I have had some crap times in my life and I am never the same person after it. My outlook changes and I always hope, for the better.

  6. That is a good topic. The lessons learned you posted I can relate to. There are so many ways to look at this topic. You can take it and dwell on it over and over till you are pulled down and depressed from all of your lessons you didn’t learn from or you can Grow from it by remembering the lessons you did learn from.

Mine is when you see someone who people are saying she’s a snob or stuff like that, you be the one to go up and talk to them and see who they really are because I was accused of being a snob and I was just too shy and timid to talk. I have been guilty of doing others that way, but no more, not after I was done that way.

We should get to know each other not try to judge one another.

Thank you for your valued comment.

Sometimes it is soo hard to recognize the faults within ourselves and we usually only face them when are faced when difficult times happen in our lives.

I always say, tr and be kind to one another, if possible. We are all fighting the daily battle called life and we never really know what people are going through, within their own lives
