This is then replaced by fresh air which contains a higher level of oxygen. This, in turn, enriches the blood with the required supplies of oxygen, which some say, is the lifeline of our system.

It would always be a better idea to hang out with those people who have a sense of humor. Being with people who are always in a bad mood will also affect your mood.  However, if people around you laugh and make you feel good,  then the scientific health benefits are too important to ignore.

  1. In my country, they say that laughter is the best medicine. I’ve actually heard of cases of people who were very ill or terminally ill and their situation improved after laughing while watching a very good comedy.

I haven’t really bothered to research if any of those cases were actually true but I believe that they could be right?

    What’s your take on this?

Sincere thanks for posting. In answer to your question, I do believe that laughter and a positive mind can do great things in the field of health.

The most famous  story  that I know of,  is from a pesron called Dr Norman Cousins, author of “Norman Cousins Anatomy Of An Illness”. He was a global peacemaker, and received hundreds of awards, including the UN Peace Medal.

In 1964 following a very stressful trip to Russia, he was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis (a degenerative disease causing the breakdown of collagen), which left him in almost constant pain. Unfortunately his doctor, also told him that he would die within a few months.

He disagreed with the diagnosis because he reasoned that if stress had somehow contributed to his illness, then positive emotions would surely help him feel better. He then checked himself out of the hospital and into a hotel across the street.

He then began to take extremely high doses of vitamin C plus stream of humorous films and similar “laughing matter”.

He went on to state that 10 minutes of belly rippling laughter would give him two hours of pain-free sleep. Before this, nothing else, not even morphine could help him.

His condition steadily improved and within six months he was back on his feet, and within two years he was able to return to his full-time job. His story baffled the scientific community and inspired a number of research projects.
